For Stylists

Curl Education for Stylists

Simplifying curls so every stylist can work with textured hair confidently.

Hands-on workshops, simple foundations, and clear language, without the pressure to specialise. Education that meets you where you are, with Caroline Smalley.

Built for the stylist you already are

Whether textured hair feels unfamiliar or you've been working with curls for years, this education is designed to meet you where you are.

The unsure stylist

Curls sit in your chair and your stomach drops. You want to feel competent, not on edge, without overhauling everything you already do well.

Building confidence

You already work with textured hair but want clearer fundamentals, a calmer process, and language you can use with every guest.

Refining foundations

You're a curl specialist sharpening the science, porosity, chemistry, and the way you teach it back to the people in your chair.

  • Practice on real textures in a small cohort
  • Watch and learn alongside peers
  • Leave with shared language and reference points
Small group sizes

Curl Science Foundations

Understand why curls behave the way they do. Product chemistry, porosity, and curl patterns, the science made simple, so your decisions feel calmer and more confident.

  • Know what porosity tells you, and what it doesn't
  • Match products to texture without guessing
  • Translate science into plain language for guests

About the educator

Taught by Caroline Smalley

A private studio. A teaching practice. One throughline, making curls make sense.

Caroline opened Curl Identity because she couldn't find a stylist who understood her own curls. That same gap, for the stylists working with curly women, is what naturally led her into education.

Today, she teaches workshops in Mandurah and at events across Australia. The focus stays the same: simple foundations, clear language, and a calmer way to work with textured hair, for stylists who want education without pressure to specialise.

How I teach

01

Clarity over complexity

Education designed to remove noise, not add to it. Plain language, repeatable foundations, calm decisions.

02

Meeting you where you are

Not every stylist wants to be a curl specialist, but every stylist will work with curls. This is education that fits where you already are.

03

Confidence through understanding

Confidence starts with understanding. Workshops simplify the why behind the what, so stylists leave with clarity they can use, not a dependency on a specialist.

04

Science made simple

Porosity, product chemistry, curl pattern, taught in plain language, so the why is obvious before the how.
