First time at a curl-trained stylist
You've spent years cutting around the texture rather than with it. The studio is built for that first proper appointment, calm, unhurried, and genuinely about your hair.
The Studio
Long, unhurried appointments. One client at a time. Curls treated as the point, not the obstacle.
A private studio in Mandurah, Western Australia, built around the kind of attention curls have always deserved. With Caroline Smalley.
Who it's for
Whether it's the first time you've sat in a curl-trained chair or you've been working on your routine for years, this is a room designed to meet you there.
You've spent years cutting around the texture rather than with it. The studio is built for that first proper appointment, calm, unhurried, and genuinely about your hair.
It's one of the most common reasons people end up here. Bring it. We start from where your curls actually are, not where they should have been.
Maybe you've been straightening for years. Maybe you're growing out a treatment. Either way, we map a route that fits your hair and your real life.
What's offered
A small set of appointment types that layer cleanly. Start where it makes sense, most people begin with a Curl Appointment.
A long, unhurried session, consultation, cut for your texture, style, and a calm walk-through of how to keep it that way at home.
Once we've worked together, follow-ups are about maintaining what's working, refining the cut, adjusting the routine, growing the confidence.
Weddings, photoshoots, and the days you want your curls to behave a particular way. Styled with the same texture-first approach, never flattened to fit a brief.
An appointment, step by step
No surprises. Here's roughly how a first appointment runs from the moment you arrive.
We start with a proper conversation, your hair history, what's worked, what hasn't, what you actually want. Nothing rushed.
Curl-by-curl, with intent. The cut respects how your hair grows, not what's fashionable for straight hair this season.
Product and technique chosen for your porosity and pattern, and explained as we go, so it's not a black box when you get home.
You leave with a routine you can actually replicate, not a list of products and a vague hope. The point is independence, not a return appointment.
Your stylist
One stylist. One client at a time. The same person from consultation to last spritz.
Caroline opened the studio because, as someone with curly hair herself, she couldn't find a stylist locally who really understood her texture. The room she built is the one she'd been hoping to walk into.
Today, the studio is private, by-appointment, and quietly busy. Curly women travel in from across Western Australia, and most of them stay, because the appointment is built around their hair rather than the salon's schedule.

Confidence starts with understanding. By simplifying the why behind the what, every appointment is designed to make curls feel less overwhelming and more achievable.
When you understand why your curls behave the way they do, your decisions get calmer. A handful of things, understood well, beats a hundred half-remembered.
One client at a time. Long appointments. Real conversation. The room I built because I couldn't find one, quiet and warm instead of rushed and loud.
Not every curly woman wants to overhaul her routine. The studio fits into your life, your pace, and your texture, not a method that demands you contort yourself to fit it.
Your curls, your way
Studio capacity stays intentionally low. If the timing is right, get in touch, we'll let you know where things sit and what's next.

Two doors
The studio is for curly women looking to understand and care for their natural curls. The education side is for stylists. Most people know which one fits, if you're not sure, just say.
