Curl Identity
A private studio and education space founded by Caroline Smalley. Born from her own journey with curly hair, a warm, grounded home for curly women and the stylists who work with them.
My Story
Curl Identity started with something simple and personal. As someone with curly hair, I couldn't find a stylist locally who really understood my texture, so I opened my own studio and began working with women who wanted to understand and embrace their natural curls.
Over time, I noticed the same gap for stylists who didn't feel confident working with texture. That's what naturally led me into education. Today, Curl Identity is a space for curly women, for stylists wanting to build their confidence, and for anyone drawn to a softer, more grounded approach to curls.

How I Work
Confidence starts with understanding. By simplifying the why behind the what, curls feel less overwhelming and more achievable, for stylists and guests alike.
When you understand why curls behave the way they do, your decisions get calmer. The focus here is on fundamentals, not technical overload.
Not every stylist wants to be a curl specialist, and not every curly woman wants to overhaul her routine. This is education that fits into your life, your pace, and your texture.
One client at a time. Long appointments. Real conversation. A studio that's quiet and warm instead of rushed and loud, because curls deserve that kind of attention.
Porosity, product chemistry, curl pattern, taught in plain language. You don't need a chemistry background to understand your hair. You just need someone willing to translate.
Curl Identity is a community of curly women and stylists on the same journey, understanding curls together. Come as you are.
